I’ve already mentioned how my family is totally into the NCAA March Madness tournament. You can read more about our obsession here. My oldest son has always needed a lot of extra help at home to reinforce the skills he learns at school. So I am always looking for ways to make it more appealing for him. And we will work in fun activities too about things he likes, like the NCAA basketball tournament. It has sometimes been hard for me to find appropriate and interesting educational materials that reinforce what he needs help with so I have made a few here and there. One year around tournament time I made a worksheet of basketball related word problems. It was a lot of work for him, so I decided to pair it with something fun. He is big into sports and sports trivia, so I came up with this easy March Madness trivia quiz. I have updated it to include information through 2014, since the 2015 tournament isn’t complete as of this writing.
This would be good to use for a contest or a party game. You could give a little prize to the person that gets the most questions right. You could also use it like I did, as a reward for completing something a bit more difficult. Or you can use it with some other fun basketball activities if your kids get really into the tournament like mine do. If you want to use it with other educational worksheets and activities, it could be good practice for children that are just learning how to look things up on the internet.
